What have we paid for four bananas so far?
Remember, 12.5 Yuan is about 1 Queenpound.
Location: Beijing street stall. Price: 20 Yuan. Notes: these were our first bananas (we cut our teeth on the buying experience). We bought them on the road to our hostel in readiness for breakfast.
Location: Qufu street stall. Price: 17.5 Yuan. Notes: We also bought these bananas in readiness for breakfast, along with two medium sized oranges. Tommy Barter-Bousfield negotiated the price down from a full 45 Yuan. As we walked away, the assembled fruit-seller crowd tittered.
Location: Luoyang train station stall. Price: 4 Yuan. Notes: the sleepy lady either forgot to barter/overcharge or thought we were native Chinese. I suspect the latter.
Location: Luoyang supermarket. Price: 2 Yuan. Notes: A Winner! We are still enjoying these somewhat diminuitive but flavour packed fruits. The price was right, too.
